In a game that certainly offered the entire spectrum of human emotion, the Vikings came out victorious over the Jaguars in a 26-23 game that featured the first actual application of the new NFL overtime rules.
After dominating the first 25 minutes of the game both offensively and defensively and earning a 9-0 lead, the Jaguars offensive line deteriorated and the Viking offense picked up all the momentum necessary to get ahead. But with 20 seconds left in the game, a Blaine Gabbert touchdown to Cecil Shorts III from 39 yards out, followed by a Justin Blackmon two point conversion, put the Jaguars back on top, 23-20.
However, in the final 20 seconds the Jaguars allowed a quick drive by the Vikings that set up a 55-yard Blair Walsh field goal to tie and send it to overtime. A 38-yard field goal by Walsh gave the Vikings the lead and the Jaguars were unable to respond, losing 26-23.
