Week 8 NFL odds: Dolphins vs. Jets

Miami is a three point road underdog to a New York team that has showed signs of life in their last three weeks.

The Dolphins, coming off a bye week, have slipped under the national radar for most of the season, a polar opposite of the Jets, their tabloid-friendly AFC East rival.

Anything that happens in New York, good or bad, tends to be magnified by the press, which may be why the Jets inching towards respectability in the last few weeks has so influenced the odds makers. New York is a -2.5 point home favorite over Miami on Sunday in a game that could help decide the season for both teams.

For awhile, the Jets season looked like it was falling over a cliff after losing Darrelle Revis and Santonio Holmes to injury. However, after hanging tough with the Texans on Monday Night Football, New York rediscovered their ground game in a blowout win over the Colts and lost an OT heart-breaker to the Patriots last week.

Shonn Greene has become the featured player in the New York offense, which should set up an interesting battle of strength-on-strength on Sunday, as the Dolphins have the 4rth rated run defense in the NFL this season.

The Jets, meanwhile, have the 30th worst run defense in the league, which could mean a big day for Reggie Bush. That will be huge for Miami, who will be trying to keep the pressure off rookie QB Ryan Tannehill and allow him to manage the game and not try to do to much on the road.
