Miami Dolphins quarterback Ryan Tannehill's status for Week 9 is uncertain after an MRI revealed a deep thigh bruise and a bone bruise on his knee, but no structural damage. Tannehill was knocked out in the first quarter of Miami's win over the New York Jets on Sunday.
Tannehill sustained the injuries while being sacked. At that point in the game, he was 2-5 passing for 18 yards. Afterward, Tannehill said he could have gone back into the game in an emergency situation, but the Dolphins maintained a comfortable lead without him. He also said that he was optimistic about being able to start next weekend.
Matt Moore replaced Tannehill and finished 11-19 for 131 yards and a touchdown. The Dolphins took a 20-0 lead into halftime and maintained a multiple-score lead throughout the second half en route to a 30-9 victory. The win was Miami's third straight.
The Dolphins face the Colts in Week 9.
