The Miami Dolphins are 2-3 on the season, and the shoddy play of Miami's secondary has haunted the Dolphins in their three losses this year. On Sunday, however, Miami's secondary showed up and helped seal the victory for Miami, in the Dolphins' 17-13 win over the Cincinnati Bengals:
This week's tape finally shows the Dolphins' secondary delivering the victory, tightening the screws during Cincinnati's two-minute drive at the end of a game that featured Bengals trailing by four points with 1:45 left in the game and 80-yards to the end zone.
Miami was able to hold A.J. Green to just 65 yards on nine receptions. Bengals quarterback Andy Dalton was just 26-of-43 for 234 yards, while throwing two picks – including the game-ending interception by Reshad Jones, ending Cincinnati's comeback attempt.
Through the first five games of the season, Miami boasts the 27th-ranked passing defense in the league, giving up on average 281.8 yards per game to opponents through the air.
Miami's secondary will try to continue trending in the right direction on Sunday, when the Dolphins host the St. Louis Rams.
