Miami Dolphins running back Reggie Bush was benched in Sunday's loss to the Tennessee Titans. Bush ran the ball four times for 21 yards, but also had a fumble. Bush believes that it is the first time since he's played organized football that he has ever been benched, but he does acknowledge why head coach Joe Philbin did it:
"The only thing I can control is fumbling the football."
The loss dropped the Dolphins to 4-5, two games behind the two current Wild Card holders, Pittsburgh Steelers and Indianapolis Colts. Bush believes that this is a team that can get back into the playoff hunt, but they can't make the mental mistakes like what they made against the Titans:
"When we are fundamentally sound you see we're a pretty good team. When we're not, penalties, turnovers, its a recipe for disaster,"
Bush knows that the responsibility falls on him when it comes to running the football to protect it. He even knows that to be considered a leader, mistakes like that just can't happen:
"It was a rough day. I fumbled the ball. That's something as a leader & veteran of the team I can't do. I'll bounce back"
The Dolphins play the Buffalo Bills at Ralph Wilson Stadium on Thursday Night Football on NFL Network. Kickoff is scheduled for 8:20 p.m.
