'Fire Jeff Ireland' Banner To Be Flown Over Sun Life Stadium, Courtesy Of Dolphins Fans

Are you an incensed sports fan? Pissed off about the direction of your favorite team? It used to be that all you could do was vent to fellow co-workers and neighbors, but in today's day and age, the internet provides all sorts of opportunities for creative, collective fan outrage.

And this has to be the greatest example yet:

But writers and readers of a Dolphins blog, incensed over general manager Jeff Ireland keeping his job, are taking their hate mile high: they've raised $1,500 to fly a banner over Sun Life Stadium before the Dolphins-Jets game on New Year's Day, demanding Ireland be fired. (Huffington Post)

In general, Miami Dolphins fans were glad when the team fired head coach Tony Sparano this past Monday, but they didn't think that move went nearly far enough. GM Jeff Ireland is still in charge of running the team, and he's managed to run the organization into the ground over the past couple of seasons. He's only in his third season as the Dolphins' GM so it's difficult to properly evaluate him, but football is a very "What have you done for me lately?" sport. And as far as the fans are concerned, Ireland hasn't done nearly enough.

Even if this banner isn't enough to change any front office decisions, it'll certainly serve to put Ireland on the hot seat for this coming offseason. The fans are fed up, and they're willing to take action to make their voice heard.
