2012 NFL Draft Results: Dolphins Draft Ryan Tannehill With No. 8 Pick

The Miami Dolphins selected their quarterback of the future on Thursday night, drafting Texas A&M quarterback Ryan Tannehill in the first round of the 2012 NFL Draft. Tannehill was the third-best quarterback in the draft, and his stock had risen significantly during the pre-draft process. Many suspected Tannehill could go as high as third overall, but the Dolphins ended up getting the quarterback at their original spot at eight.

Tannehill will re-join his former college coach, Mike Sherman, who spent last year in College Station as the head coach before being fired and joining Miami's staff as offensive coordinator. Sherman, along with new coach Joe Philbin, clearly felt comfortable with their ability to mold Tannehill into the quarterback of the future for the franchise, despite a limited sample of college games.
