2012 NFL Draft Reaction: Can Ryan Tannehill Reach His Potential?

The Miami Dolphins made what many thought were the obvious choice in the first round of the 2012 NFL Draft on Thursday when they took Texas A&M quarterback Ryan Tannehill No. 8 overall. Our Dolphins blog the Phinsider is excited about Tannehill's potential with the young Dolphins team.

The Dolphins have the luxury of letting Tannehill sit for a while behind veterans Matt Moore and David Garrard. He can ease into the offense when he's ready. That could be in 2013 or later into 2012 depending on how the season goes. He can develop with the young WRs that the Dolphins have and will draft later this weekend.

The plan here is that Tannehill will develop into the franchise QB the Dolphins have needed for over a decade now. If he pans out, the Dolphins have a 15 year starter that will make us perennial playoff and championship contenders.

Whether or not Tannehill reaches that potential remains to be seen. But the Dolphins have some hope at the quarterback position, and that is not something that has been said a lot over the past decade.
