The Dolphins do not have a clear-cut starting quarterback on their roster at the moment. All four quarterbacks, including Pat Devlin, on roster right now are competing for that starting position. While Ryan Tannehill is the future of the Miami Dolphins, new head coach Joe Philbin remained non-committal in an interview he did on ESPN's NFL 32 show, where he was asked when he would make a decision on quarterback.
You'd love to have it done by after the second preseason game. Your third preseason game is when your first unit is going to get the vast majority of the snaps in terms of their preseason allocation. If it's clear earlier we'll make a decision at that point in time, but I'd say by the third preseason game we'd like to have a unit established
It still isn't apparent who has the inside track to the starting job in the first set of OTAs but as the offseason goes on, Philbin will be asked about it more and more.
