Dolphins Offseason 2012: Miami Decides Not To Offer Brian Banks A Tryout

According to a report from Pro Football Talk, the Miami Dolphins considered offering a tryout to 26-year-old linebacker Brian Banks, but the team has ultimately opted not to.

Banks, a former high-school star who was set to attend USC, was imprisoned for a rape conviction by a high-school classmate in 2002 and spent five years in jail instead of heading to college. After being released, he was placed on probation and had to register as a sex offender. That was until Banks was exonerated from those charges last week, after his accuser admitted that she made all of her claims up.

Banks is now trying to make a go of it in the NFL. "We did our due diligence but did not invite him to a tryout," the Dolphins told Pro Football Talk. Banks has been offered a tryout with the Seattle Seahakws, coached by Pete Carroll, the man who recruited him to come to USC.
