Any rumblings that the Miami Dolphins could trade cornerback Vontae Davis are "just rumors," according to a tweet from Miami Herald columnist Armando Salguero.

Salguero said that's according to a text he received from a Dolphins source at 1:56 a.m. Friday morning, when rumors were swirling on Twitter, fueled by one of Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay's patented Twitter spells.

Kevin Nogle at The Phinsider was watching closely as Irsay went a bit crazy with a series of tweets hinting at an impending trade.

After a report nixed the names of Mike Wallace and Maurice Jones-Drew (the two biggest names linked to trades right now), the rumor of a possible trade for a cornerback was raised by CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora. For Dolphins fans, that could have meant Davis, who has dropped from the top of the CB depth chart to No. 3 this preseason.

However, there's been nothing certain to say Davis is available, and the cornerback has worked to get back in shape and into his coaches' good graces through the preseason. It's anyone's guess what Irsay was hinting at.
