Dolphins Vs. Cowboys Final Score: Miami Loses Final Preseason Game, 30-13

The Miami Dolphins were defeated by the Dallas Cowboys, 30-13, in their final game of the 2012 NFL preseason. Rookie quarterback Ryan Tannehill saw action in the first quarter, going 5-of-7 for 41 yards behind a backup offensive line. Matt Moore (4-of-12, 49 yards) and Pat Devlin (7-of-12, 63 yards) split time under center for the remaining three quarters.

Miami was without a touchdown until late in the third quarter, having only picked up two field goals in the first. It was late in the third until the offense put together a long drive, going 89 yards on 14 plays, culminating in a 1-yard touchdown run by Lamar Miller. Miller led the team in rushing, picking up 60 yards on 17 touches.

On the defensive side of the ball, Kheeston Randall was able to pick up six tackles, four of them solo and two for a loss, as well as one sack. Oliver Vernon and Jamaal Westerman combined for another sack.

Special teams saw Marcus Thigpen return four kicks for 97 yards, and Dan Carpenter went 2-for-2 on field goals and recovered a Dallas fumble on a kick return.

With the loss, the Dolphins go winless in the 2012 preseason. Their season begins on the road, facing the Houston Texans on Sunday, Sept. 9.
