David Garrard's Return To Practice Could Make Matt Moore Trade Bait

David Garrard signed with the Miami Dolphins in the offseason, and expectations were that he would be the starter at quarterback. Unfortunately, Garrard has missed significant time in the preseason after undergoing knee surgery on August 12th. Since then, rookie Ryan Tannehill has taken over the top spot at QB for the Dolphins.

The veteran QB returned to practice Monday, and Kevin Nogle of SB Nation's The Phinsider says that may impact Matt Moore's future in Miami:

The absence of Garrard, who was expected to be named the starter for the Dolphins this season, opened the door for rookie Ryan Tannehill to grab the top depth chart slot. Currently, the Dolphins have four quarterbacks on their roster, with Matt Moore and Pat Devlin joining Garrard and Tannehill.

If Garrard can prove he is healthy, it could make Moore expendable. NFL teams have reportedly already been calling the team to judge if there is any interest in trading the team's 2011 starting quarterback

Garrard completed 63% of his passes for 23 touchdowns as the starter for Jacksonville a season ago. Moore connected on 61% of his throws for 16 touchdowns.
