2012 NBA standings: Heat on top of Southeast, Magic in the middle

The Miami Heat have opened the season 4-1 and sit at the top of the Southeast Division standings. The Orlando Magic started 2-0 but have since fallen to 2-2, putting them behind the Atlanta Hawks.

The 2012 NBA season may just have gotten underway, but the standings in the Southeast Division are already shaping up. The way they look probably isn't a surprise to many: The Miami Heat are in first place at 4-1, and the Orlando Magic sit in the middle of the division at 2-2. The Atlanta Hawks are between at 2-1.

Elsewhere in the Eastern Conference, the Chicago Bulls lead the Central Division and the Atlantic-leading New York Knicks are 3-0 and the only remaining undefeated team in the league. Complete Eastern standings are below.

In the Western Conference, the Minnesota Timberwolves lead the Northwest, the Golden State Warriors and L.A. Clippers are tied at the top of the Pacific, and the San Antonio Spurs and Dallas Mavericks are tied in the Southwest.
