The Miami Heat are off to a 12-4 start to the season, which has them atop the Southeast Division standings. The defending NBA champs have a 1.5-game lead over Atlanta. The rebuilding Orlando Magic are fourth in the Southeast at 7-11, but they are gaining on third-place Charlotte, who have dropped five games in a row.

The New York Knicks have the best record in the East at 13-4, and they lead the Atlantic Division. The Brooklyn Nets aren't far behind at 11-6, while Philadelphia and Boston are both 10-8. Chicago and Indiana are tied for the lead in the Central.

The Western Conference includes the teams with the top three winning percentages in the league: Oklahoma City, Memphis and San Antonio

Miami, which is coming off a loss to the Washington Wizards, returns to the floor Saturday to face the New Orleans Hornets. The Magic face the Sacramento Kings on Friday night.
