After one period at the Pepsi Center, the Denver Nuggets lead the Miami Heat by nine points. The Nuggets raced out to the 30-21 lead on some early hot three-point shooting, hitting four of seven attempts in the first twelve minutes. It was a fast-paced up-and-down quarter between the two highest scoring teams in the league.
LeBron James led the Heat with eight points, getting to the line five times as he tries to answer intense criticism this week with Miami coming off two straight losses. Dwyane Wade chipped in with six points, while Chris Bosh was 0 for 4 from the field. Miami will try to challenge Denver at the three point line to cut down on the first quarter deficit.
