Forward Ronny Turiaf is signing a contract to play with the Miami Heat according to a report by Yahoo Sports' Adrian Wojnarowski. The 6-foot-10 player was recently involved in a three team trade that sent him from the Washington Wizards to the Denver Nuggets. Denver then bought out his contract and Turiaf cleared waivers on Tuesday allowing him to sign with any team in the NBA.
The signing of Turiaf gives the Heat a big inside presence to help with defense and rebounding. A player like that, even in just short bursts of time could be a big help going against Eastern Conference foes such as the Chicago Bulls and the Orlando Magic.
Turiaf has been sidelined much of this season after suffering a broken hand in early January and played a mere four games with the Wizards. If he is healthy in time for the playoffs, the Heat could really use his defensive abilities in their pursuit of an NBA championship.
