Ray Allen is joining the Miami Heat as a free agent for the 2011-12 season, as the news was broken by Heat owner Micky Arison via Twitter on Friday evening. Allen had left Miami without giving the team an answer on the offer he'd been given, but apparently made up his mind on Friday.

It's being speculated that the strained relationship between Allen and Rajon Rondo began to wear thin and played a factor is Allen's decision not to return to the Celtics. Allen is clearly chasing one last chance to win another championship before he retires, since he signed with the team that beat his old one in the playoffs, but personnel chemistry seems to have played a factor here.
