Freshman Miami Hurricanes running back Duke Johnson unexpectedly showed up on the ACC's injury report for this weekend, writes the Sun Sentinel. Johnson was listed as probable for Saturday's home game against the North Carolina Tar Heels with what was listed as a "lower extremity" injury.
This is the first indication of any injury to Johnson, who was leading the nation in all-purpose yards through the first four weeks. Head coach Al Golden isn't available for comment until after Saturday's game.
Johnson has struggled since those first four weeks, rushing for just 22 yards on eight carries in last week's loss to Notre Dame, which followed a performance of just 39 yards on 12 carries in the previous week's win over North Carolina State. In his Miami debut, Johnson rushed for 135 yards and two touchdowns on just seven carries against Boston College. He scored four touchdowns against Bethune-Cookman, and he's the Hurricanes' leading rusher on the season with 381 yards on 60 carries.
