The Miami Hurricanes defeated the Detroit Titans, 77-62, in college basketball action on Saturday. The Hurricanes improved to 3-1 on the season with the win.
Durand Scott and Shane Larkin scored 15 points apiece to pace the Hurricanes, who pulled away in the second half by outscoring the Titans, 42-31. Kenny Kadji finished with a double-double, scoring 14 points and grabbing 11 rebounds. Trey McKinney-Jones rounded out the Hurricanes' double-digit scorers, contributing 13 points.
Elsewhere, the Jacksonville Dolphins picked up their third win of the season by defeating the Milwaukee Panthers, 71-66, in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. After outscoring the Panthers by 14 points in the opening half, the Dolphins withstood a second-half rally from Milwaukee and held on for the victory.
The Florida A&M Rattlers were also in action in a preseason tournament, taking on the Presbyterian Blue Hose in a battle of winless teams at the Las Vegas Invitational. The Rattlers used a 15-point second half advantage to beat the Blue Hose, 69-55, and improved to 1-5 on the season.
