The Miami Hurricanes kick off their 2012-13 season with a home contest against the Stetson Hatters of the Atlantic Sun Conference on Friday night.
Miami finished last season 20-13 overall and 9-7 in the ACC in their first campaign under coach Jim Larranaga. The 9-7 record was good for sixth in the conference, earning the Hurricanes an NIT berth. Miami won one game in the NIT before bowing out in the second round.
Miami returns their top two scores in Durand Scott and Kenny Kadji. Scott led the team in scoring last season at 12.9 points per game while Kadji was close behind at 11.7 points per game. Scott also led the team in assists. Reggie Johnson, the Hurricanes' leading rebounder last year, also returns this season.
There was some controversy surrounding Scott last season, as he was suspended for an ACC tournament game for accepting impermissible benefits.
Stetson struggled last season, going 9-20 overall and 6-12 in the Atlantic Sun. Adam Pegg, the Hatters' leading scorer last season, is back this year.
Game Time: 5:30 p.m. ET at BankUnited Center
TV: No television, but game will be streaming on ESPN 3.
