Miami vs. North Carolina State: Hurricanes Still Eyeing ACC Tournament Bye

The Hurricanes are still on the edge of a bye in the ACC tournament. Can they stay alive and help their NCAA tournament resume with a win over North Carolina State Wednesday night?

Presswire

The Miami Hurricanes enter the penultimate game of the Regular season squarely on the bubble. Tied for the fourth and final first round bye in the ACC tournament, the Canes need a win not only to bolster their tournament resume, but to keep them alive in the race for the top 4 seeds in the ACC tournament.

They travel to the RBC Center in Raleigh, NC to play the North Carolina State Wolfpack who are just as desperate to earn some signature wins, but the window for them may be closing quicker. The Hurricanes have a pair of big ACC road victories, Duke and Florida State, that will help them on Selection Sunday. However a loss to either the Wolfpack Wednesday night or Boston College on Saturday will probably push Miami to the brink unless they make a deep run in the ACC tournament.

The Hurricanes do enter this game struggling as of late, going 2-3 in their last five games, including a loss at Maryland. The victory over the Seminoles should help the Hurricanes rebound, plus the reinstatement of leading rebounder Reggie Johnson should help the Hurricanes attempt to avenge a five point loss to the Wolfpack in January. Also key in this game is Durand Scott and Kenny Kadji, both averaging over 13 points per game.
