Miami will kick off the ACC basketball season on the road against Georgia Tech on January 5. Its the first of 18 ACC games the Hurricanes will play this year, according to its athletic department. The ACC released its conference basketball schedule Wednesday. The league will play an 18-game schedule for the first time in it history as it prepares for the arrival of Pittsburgh and Syracuse in 2013.
The Hurricanes have home and away games against perennial conference heavyweights Duke and North Carolina. Miami also has home and away games against Boston College, Clemson, Georgia Tech, Florida State, and Virginia Tech. The Seminoles are the defending ACC champions. N.C. State, considered by some to be the preseason favorite, hosts Miami in Raleigh on February 2.
ESPN will televise both of Miami's games against the Blue Devils, and either ESPN or ESPN2 will pick up the contests against the Tar Heels, and their away match-up against the Seminoles.
