In 2004, Cortez Kennedy was inducted into the University of Miami Sports Hall of Fame. On Saturday he'll be honored in an even bigger way when he's inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame with five other football greats.
While many of the festivities for the Hall of Fame weekend began the weekend prior, the weekend's most popular events will kick off with the Enshrinees' Gold Jacket Dinner on Friday night in which Kennedy and the other honorees will receive their Hall of Fame gold jackets.
On Saturday at 7 p.m., the Class of 2012 Enshrinement Ceremony will take place and will be followed by Sunday's Hall of Fame Game at 8 p.m. between the Cardinals and Saints.
Kennedy was an All-American at his defensive tackle position during his time at Miami before being drafted with the third overall selection by the Seattle Seahawks in the 1990 NFL Draft. Between the years 1991 and 1999, Kennedy made the Pro Bowl eight times and was named 1992 NFL Defensive Player of the Year despite playing on a 2-14 Seahawks team.
