The Miami Marlins had high hopes for this season, making their debut in the city of Miami and their new stadium. But it was disappointing, to say the least, and the Marlins will end their year with a meaningless home series against the also-post-season-irrelevant New York Mets.
Miami is coming off losing two out of three games in a series against the Philadelphia Phillies. The theme of this post, apparently, is disappointing baseball clubs. Nonetheless, closing out this season for the Marlins is going to be about pride more than anything.
The Mets have beaten the Marlins seven straight times and the sight of Josh Johnson (8-14, 3.81 ERA) gets New York salivating, since the Mets have won every time he's been on the mound this season. Johnson will get the start Monday, while the Mets send Jeurys Familia to the mound.
Monday's game will be shown on FOX Sports Florida at 7:10 p.m. ET.
