His big mistake was allowing the pair of home runs which were a solo shot by center fielder Andres Torres, and then a two-run blast by right fielder Scott Hairston. Even the fourth run given up by the Marlins was a home run, but the third one was given up by reliever Chad Gaudin.
The Marlins made a run late in the game when got to Mets starter Jeremy Hefner in the sixth inning when center fielder Gorkys Hernandez's only hit of the game was a RBI single which scored Donnie Murphy. In the bottom of the eighth inning the Marlins struck again Bryan Petersen scored on a passed ball by Hefner.
The Marlins were able to load the bases later in the bottom of the eighth, but Donovan Solano lined out to shortstop to end the inning. In the bottom of the ninth the Marlins had the tying run at the plate with Murphy at second base, but Petersen struck out to end the game.
