Marlins vs. Phillies: Miami looks to make it two in a row vs. Philadelphia

The Miami Marlins improved to 8-8 against the Philadelphia Phillies with Friday night's win. They'll look to improve to a winning record on Saturday, sending Ricky Nolasco (12-12, 4.35 ERA) to the mound. Philadelphia counters with Roy Halladay (10-8, 4.40 ERA).

Nolasco is 2-0 with a 3.86 ERA against the Phillies in 2012, throwing 14 innings in two starts while holding Philadelphia to a .259 batting average. Unfortunately for Miami, Halladay has had similar success. He's 2-1 against the Marlins, holding them to a .240 average over 20 1/3 innings.

At this point in the season, the Marlins didn't have much to play for except the opportunity to play spoiler, and that's exactly what they did Friday night. With the loss, the Phillies were mathematically eliminated from playoff contention, something unlikely to escape their attention before they return for Game 2.
