Miami Ballpark's Home Run Celebration Is Huge

At this point, it's well known that the Miami Marlins' new stadium is going to feature a home run celebration that gives a new definition to the word "gaudy". But until recently, we had no idea exactly how large this monstrosity would be. After all, home run celebrations normally aren't that big, so there was no reason to believe it'd be any different than the Mets' home run apple.

But thanks to some investigative reporting by Grant Brisbee (and a webcam installed in the new Marlins' ballpark), we now know the truth. This thing is going to be massive.

If you need even more proof, drop by Grant's full report over at Baseball Nation. No matter how you approach it, though, this home run contraption looks like it's going to dominate center field whenever it goes off. Remember, it's going to have copious amounts of flashing neon lights, so the Marlins better ensure that their center fielder doesn't have a history of seizures.

If there's one lesson we've learned from this offseason, it's that the new Miami Marlins don't go halfway on anything. If they're going to have the gaudiest, most over-the-top home run celebration in the majors, then by gawd, they will spare no expense to make it as large as humanely possible.

I don't know about you, but I'm already planning my trip down to see this thing in action. I just hope I don't forget my sunglasses.
