Marlins Vs. Cardinals: Josh Johnson Starts Grapefruit League Play With A Win

The Miami Marlins started Grapefruit League play with a 4-3 win over their Jupiter, FL, neighbors, the St. Louis Cardinals.

Gregg Dobbs started the scoring when he took Cardinals starter Kyle Loshe deep in the top of the second inning. Dobbs got right back to it in the fourth inning, hitting a two-run double off right-hander Brandon Dickson. Gabby Sanchez sent Dobbs home later in that inning with a single to right field.

Josh Johnson made the start for the Marlins, working one and two-thirds innings. He allowed two hits and no runs, striking out two and walking one. Johnson earned the win for his efforts.

The Marlins used six more arms in the game before going to Dan Jennings for a two-out save. Chris Hatcher almost let the Cardinals back in the game, surrendering a two-run double to Matt Carpenter. The Cardinals added a third run when Jennings allowed a single to Steven Hill, but Hatcher was charged with the run.
