Braves Vs. Marlins Recap: Miami Splits Series With Atlanta After Shutout Loss

Atlanta starting pitcher Brandon Beachy had it all working on Thursday night as the Braves shutout out the Marlins 7-0 to take game 2 of their quick series. Beachy allowed just five hits, striking out six and walking nine for the complete game shutout. They rarely put together any kind of threat against the Braves, with just one extra-base hit, a double by Giancarlo Stanton.

Marlins' starter Ricky Nolasco, on the other hand, scuffled through four innings of work. He allowed four runs on seven hits, and the Braves struck early to chase him quickly. It wasn't much better for Chad Gaudin either, as the Fish reliever coughed up three runs right away to put the game out of reach in the 5th inning. Aside from a Fredi Freeman solo shot, the Braves did much of their damage with station-to-station baseball, scoring their final four runs on singles.

The Marlins now head north to Cleveland to start interleague play against the Indians. Carlos Zambrano will face Justin Masterson in game 1 on Friday night.
