Marlins Vs. Giants Preview: Miami Looks To Take Two-In-A-Row Against San Francisco

The Miami Marlins defeated the San Francisco Giants 2-1 on Tuesday night thanks to a strong seven and-a-third innings pitched by Ricky Nolasco and a solo home run from Giancarlo Stanton in the fifth inning. Nolasco allowed only one run on seven hits in the victory. Armed with just their second win since April 20, the Marlins look to keep building momentum as they play the second of three games against the Giants on Wednesday night.

Carlos Zambrano goes to the mound looking for his first win of the season, currently standing at 0-2 with a 3.24 ERA. His last start was against the Arizona Diamondbacks on April 27. In that game he pitched six innings while allowing three runs on 10 hits in a 5-0 Miami loss. He will match up against Giants pitcher Barry Zito.

Zito is currently 1-0 with a 1.67 ERA. His last start was a no decision against the Cincinnati Reds on April 25. He pitched six innings and allowed a home run to Scott Rolen after pitching six shut out innings, allowing four hits.

Both pitchers have pitched well against the other team in their career. Zito has especially been effective against infielders Hanley Ramirez and Jose Reyes in his career, holding both hitters to batting averages of .063 and .091 respectively.

The game is scheduled for a 10:15 first pitch from AT&T Park in San Francisco. Television coverage will be provided by Fox Sports Florida with radio coverage provided by WAXY 790 AM and WAQI 710 AM.
