A match up of two teams going in different directions in May will occur on Monday night at Marlins Park as the Miami Marlins host the Colorado Rockies. The Rockies finished April an even 11-11, but has had the worst May, at 4-14, in the Major League, record-wise. The Marlins on the other hand, after an 8-14 April to start the season off, have caught fire in May, going an MLB best 14-5.
The Marlins hope to keep that hot streak going with starting pitcher Mark Buehrle taking the mound on Monday. In his last start on May 16 against the Atlanta Braves, Buehrle went six innings and allowed four runs on six hits, but got great run support in an 8-4 Marlins win to give Buehrle a 3-4 record on the year.
Ageless wonder Jamie Moyer takes the hill for the Rockies, currently with a 2-3 record with a 4.20 ERA. In his last start against the Arizona Diamondbacks on May 16, Moyer went six and one-third innings while allowing one run on six hits.
Giancarlo Stanton has been a huge reason why the Marlins have had the May they have had with him compiling a .310 batting average with 15 RBIs.
The game is scheduled for a 7:10 p.m. start time with television coverage on Fox Sports Florida. Radio coverage will be provided by WAXY 790 AM and WAQI 710 AM.
