Marlins Vs. Red Sox Preview: Can Carlos Zambrano Pitch Miami To A Rebound Against Boston?

The Miami Marlins are in a free fall right now, losers of three in a row, six of their last seven and an overall record of 4-13 in June. The Marlins need some kind of spark to get back into the race of the NL East. Maybe Carlos Zambrano (4-5, 3.92 ERA) could be the pitcher to provide that spark.

Zambrano is coming off his worst start of the season, a two inning shellacking by way of the Tampa Bay Rays on June 15. In the start he allowed four runs on three hits and walked six batters as well. A strong performance by Zambrano could snap a two game losing streak on his end.

If the Marlins are going to try and keep their ship from sinking, they are going to have to do it against Red Sox pitcher Daisuke Matsuzaka, who has lost both of his starts this season, including June 15 against the Chicago Cubs, where he went six innings and gave up three runs on four hits including three walks and strike outs as well.

The game is scheduled for a 7:10 p.m. first pitch from Fenway Park. The game will be televised nationally on MLB Network with regional coverage provided by Fox Sports Florida. Radio coverage will be provided by MAJIC 102.7 FM and WAQI 710 AM.
