Marlins Vs. Cubs Recap: Carlos Lee Grand Slam Leads Miami To 9-5 Win

The Miami Marlins picked up their second straight win on Tuesday night, opening their series in Chicago with a 9-5 victory at Wrigley Field. The Marlins hammered Cubs' starter Travis Wood, scoring eight earned runs in just 4.2 innings. The Fish exploded with two huge innings in the fourth and fifth, essentially putting this one out of reach fairly early in the evening.

An Omar Infante two-run homer in the top of the fourth pushed Miami's lead to 3-0. But they really started to pour it on one inning later. The big blow came on a grand slam blast from the newly acquired Carlos Lee. Back-to-back singles that did not leave the infield by Jose Reyes and Emilio Bonifacio set the stage for the Lee grand slam. After Wood was mercifully removed, Omar Infante would knock in Hanley Ramirez with a single that closed the books on the Cubs' starter.

Hanley Ramirez would add the ninth and final run of the night on his 14th homer of the season, a solo shot to centerfield. While the Cubs made some noise against reliever Chad Gaudin, the early rallies spurred on by the Lee grand slam were too much to overcome.
