The 2012 Major League Baseball trade deadline is fast approaching. Teams have until July 31 to make their final moves that could be the deciding factor in a pennant race. USA Today MLB writer Bob Nightengale tweeted that the Miami Marlins are looking to make a big splash in the trade market.

The prospect of bringing Carl Crawford to Miami could be an improvement, but there is no knowing how effective he will be having missed the entire year until this past Monday. However, Hanley Ramirez has been the subject of possible trade talks since the Marlins signed Jose Reyes this past offseason.

If the Marlins make this deal they could be setting themselves up for a run at one of the two wild card spots available. Currently the Marlins are five and-a-half games back of the wild card spots, so they need all the help they can get.
