2012 MLB Trade Deadline: Tampa Bay Rays James Shields Drawing Interest

Veteran right-hand pitcher, James Shields, from the Tampa Bay Rays is reportedly drawing trade interest from the Detroit Tigers and the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, according to a report by CBSSports.com.

Shields is 8-6 during the 2012 campaign with an ERA of 4.39. He struck out 10 batters in Friday night's game against the Seattle Mariners. Shields isn't the only pitcher on the trading block Tampa Bay, but because of his contract situation, he's the one that makes the most sense:

There have been reports that the Rays might consider dealing any of their five viable right-handed starters. But Shields looks like the most logical candidate due to his $9-million option for 2013.
