Marlins Vs. Pirates Recap: Miami Swept After 3-0 Loss

A rough weekend for the Miami Marlins mercifully came to an end Sunday with the Marlins suffering a sweep at the hands of the Pittsburgh Pirates with a 3-0 loss.

Anibal Sanchez pitched well, allowing just three runs on seven hits on no walks and eight strike outs, but two big hits by the Pirates ruined his outing.

Andrew McCutchen's RBI single in the first, and Pedro Alvarez's two-run home run was all the Pirates needed on the day as Jeff Karstens threw seven shut out innings to pace the Pirates to victory.

After loading the bases in the first, the Marlins would not threat the rest of the day. Miami was able to scatter just five hits on the afternoon.
