The Miami Marlins did some dealing on Monday, just ahead of the 2012 MLB trade deadline on July 31 non-waiver deadline. Jon Morosi of Fox Sports reported via Twitter that Miami sent starting pitcher Anibal Sanchez and infielder Omar Infante to the Detroit Tigers.
In return, the Marlins will receiver a package highlighted by starting pitcher Jacob Turner. The 21-year-old right-hander made two starts this season, a win and a loss. Turner was one of the top pitching prospects in Detroit's minor league system.
The deal confirms that the Marlins have indeed become sellers at the deadline, no surprise to anyone familiar with their disappointing season. It might not be the last deal they make, according to Ken Rosenthal.
