Gaby Sanchez Trade: Marlins Trade First Baseman To Pirates For Gorkys Hernandez And A Draft Pick

The Miami Marlins made a move at the trade deadline, trading first baseman Gaby Sanchez to the Pittsburgh Pirates. The Marlins receive centerfielder Gorkys Hernandez and the Pirates competitive balance draft pick. The Pirates also received minor league pitcher Kyle Kaminska in the deal.

The Marlins part way with a player who has hit .202 with three home runs and 17 RBIs. Hernandez has played in 25 games this season and has gotten only two hits in 24 at-bats. Kaminska has played most of this season for Miami's Double-A team in Jacksonville. In 31 appearances, Kaminska is 6-3 with a 5.11 ERA over 49 and one-thirds innings. He's recorded 42 strikeouts while only walking nine batters.
