Logan Morrison Injury: Ozzie Guillen Reacts

With outfielder Logan Morrison set to have a second surgery on his right knee, Miami Marlins manager Ozzie Guillen cautioned on Wednesday about the importance of Morrison arriving healthy to spring training in 2013.

"I don’t plan to play LoMo in B games, in minor league games to see how it works," Guillen told the Florida Sun Sentinel. "If LoMo can play in the A games in Spring Training, then he’s got to work hard because if he’s not he’s not going to have a job here," Guillen said.

Morrison originally injured his knee running into a wall while chasing foul balls last September. He had surgery in December, which did not give him enough time to recover before spring training.

"I’m not a doctor, [but] I don’t know why people wait so long to have surgeries," Guillen said. "It ain’t going to happen like it happened in the past. It’s time for this organization to move on and be tough on the players and do the right thing...I expect everybody here to be healthy for next Spring Training, be ready to go. Because if not they’re going to be surprised."

Morrison hit just .230 this season before being shut down on July 29. He had 11 home runs and 36 RBI in 93 games.
