Bonafacio re-injured his thumb in the ninth inning of the Marlins 5-2 victory over the Washington Nationals on Friday night. He will be replaced by 33-year-old Nick Green who was called up from Triple-A New Orleans after Miami purchased his contract.
Bonafacio was hitting .261 this season and had stolen 30 bases. Manager Ozzie Guillen had him leading off at the top of the order after moving short stop Jose Reyes down in the batting order to third.
