Orlando Magic roster: 6 battling for last spot

With 20 players currently on the roster, there are six players battling for one spot.

Douglas Jones-US PRESSWIRE - Presswire

The Orlando Magic currently have 20 players on their roster. The maximum number of players you can keep on your roster is 15, meaning the Magic must release five players before the season starts. According to John Denton of Orlando Magic.com, 14 players (Jameer Nelson, E'Twaun Moore, Arron Afflalo, J.J. Redick, Hedo Turkoglu, Glen Davis, Gustavo Ayon, Nikola Vucevic, Al Harrington, Ish Smith, Maurice Harkless, Andrew Nicholson, Kyle O'Quinn and Quentin Richardson) are safe.

That means Christian Eyenga, Justin Harper, Armon Johnson, Chris Johnson, DeQuan Jones and Josh McRoberts are fighting for one spot.

Denton believes McRoberts is "likely on," but says the coaches really like Jones, an undrafted swingman from Miami. Jones, who made his first start against the Cleveland Cavaliers Monday night, scored seven points on three-of-eight shooting and pulled down nine rebounds in 34 rebounds.

McRoberts and Eyenga haven't appeared in a game yet. Armon Johnson didn't play Tuesday night while Chris Johnson was held scoreless in five minutes.
