The Orlando Magic could be without two players when the season begins, as Gustavo Ayon and DeQuan Jones both are nursing injuries.
Ayon is at least a week away with an injury to his thumb. Acquired from New Orleans via trade, Ayon figured to be part of a rotation of players trying to fill the void left by Dwight Howard at center. In his absence, the Magic will likely give more minutes to rookie Kyle O'Quinn.
A timetable has not been set for Jones, who is sitting with a strained abductor muscle. Jones has been one of Orlando's bright spots this offseason. An undrafted rookie from Miami, Jones made the Magic's roster and figured to get some time at shooting guard.
The Magic's depth will immediately be tested when the team plays the Denver Nuggets on Friday night. Moe Harkless and Al Harrington are also injured on the Orlando Magic squad.
