NBA scores: Magic begin week with loss to Spurs

Orlando is 5-9 this season.

The Orlando Magic lost their first game of the week, a 110-89 defeat at the hands of the San Antonio Spurs on Wednesday night. The Spurs, who boast the NBA's best record, built an 11-point lead in the first quarter and never looked back.

The Miami Heat have yet to play this week, but that will change Thursday night when they take on the Spurs in a showdown of title contenders.The Heat are off to a 10-3 start to the season and lead the Southeast Division. They appeared in each of the last two NBA FInals, winning the championship last season.

Elsewhere, the Washington Wizards picked up their first win of the season by taking down the Trail Blazers on Wednesday. The Wizards began the year 0-12.

The Celtics lost at home to Brooklyn, while Atlanta continued its strong start to the season with a win over Charlotte. The Lakers, meanwhile, fell to 7-8 with a loss to the Pacers on Tuesday.
