The Orlando Magic could not overcome a sluggish start against the Atlanta Hawks on Wednesday night, falling 86-80 at the Amway Center.

Orlando's offense slumped badly throughout the first half, as the Magic managed just 34 points through the opening two quarters. Despite their struggles, Orlando was within three points late in the second quarter before a 9-0 Atlanta run to close the half made the score 46-34.

The Magic came to life in the third quarter, but couldn't close the gap as the Hawks matched them with 26 points in the frame. Orlando got the score within six on several occasions in the fourth quarter, but could not get any closer.

Orlando shot just 38.3 percent in the loss as they fell to 8-13. Arron Afflalo led the Magic with 16 points on 6-of-16 shooting.

Atlanta moved to 13-6 on the season behind 16-point efforts from Josh Smith and Jeff Teague. Both Smith and Al Horford notched double-doubles in the victory.
