Orlando Magic general manager Otis Smith resigned earlier in the week and now the Magic will begin their search for a new general manager. One name being thrown into the ring is a former player, who began his NBA career with the Orlando Magic.
Chris Broussard of ESPN The Magazine is reporting that Shaquille O'Neal is on the list for general manager candidates and could meet with the team as early as next week.
My man @Chris_Broussard, on ESPN's NBA Countdown, just reported Shaq could meet next week w/Magic to talk about GM job. Yes, that @SHAQ

Coincidentally, Shaq left the Orlando Magic in a similar situation that current Magic star center Dwight Howard is facing this upcoming season. Shaq ultimately left the Magic for the Los Angeles Lakers and went on to win NBA titles. It's curious as well because Shaq has been highly critical of the Magic and Howard as an analyst, often taking issue with Howard calling himself "Superman", a moniker Shaq was often referred to as.
I'm not a basketball expert by any means, but if this report is accurate and Shaq is a serious candidate for the Magic general manager position, I have a hard time seeing it as anything but an unmitigated disaster.
