Stan Van Gundy Will Take A Year Off, According To Report

Former Orlando Magic Head Coach Stan Van Gundy will likely take a year off before considering a return to the sidelines in the NBA, according to reports. Van Gundy's name has recently surfaced in connection with the open Charlotte Bobcats job, but Mitch Lawrence of the New York Daily News reports that he wants to take the 2012-2013 season off:

Even though Charlotte wants to talk to him about its coaching vacancy, Stan Van Gundy is looking to take the year off and then come back to coach in 2013-14. His preference is to work in a warm-weather city for a contender, which is too bad for the Pacers, who probably are less than thrilled about Frank Vogel's failure to make key defensive adjustments when Indy bombed in Games 4-6 vs. Miami.

Van Gundy, and General Manager Otis Smith, were fired last week as Orlando CEO Alex Martins cleaned house after a tumultuous 2012 season.
