Joe Johnson Trade Knocks Nets Out Of Dwight Howard Sweepstakes, According To Report

The strange saga of Dwight Howard took an interesting turn on Monday afternoon. According to a report from Chris Broussard at ESPN, the Brooklyn Nets are out of the mix to acquire Howard from the Orlando Magic. Brooklyn made a deal with the Atlanta Hawks on Monday to get Joe Johnson.

Broussard's report lines up with another one from David Aldridge who said that the Magic were not interested in Brooklyn's offers.

Howard has been angling to land with the Nets. Magic GM Rob Hennigan revealed that Howard had stated to him a preference to be traded to the Nets. In a Sunday interview with Yahoo Sports, Howard said that there was only one team that he would sign an extension with to play there beyond next season. Many believed that team to be the Nets.
