While a small matter of a potential personnel exchange is being discussed between the Orlando Magic and the Brooklyn Nets, the two teams' development league teams met on the floor Monday, with the Magic winning 92-88.
Rookie forward Andrew Nicholson out of St. Bonaventure finished with 24 points and 12 rebounds, while Brooklyn's Al Thornton lead the Nets with 18 points and seven boards. Meanwhile, undrafted free agent point guard Maalik Wayns had a double-double in his pro debut for Orlando in 28 minutes of play.
Orlando's dominant frontcourt was the story of the opening game of the Summer League, as Nicholson combined with with fellow rookie Kyle O'Quinn and forward Justin Harper to score 55 of Orlando's points. The group's 39 points outscored the entire Brooklyn team in the first half, 39-32.
