The Lightning have had a busy day jostling their roster in preparation for the beginning of the new season. A number of moves were made today, probably the highest profile of which involved the release of Eric Perrin, a member of the ’04 Stanley Cup squad, who had been in camp on a tryout basis.

The gang over at Raw Charge lay out all of today’s transactions and how they shape a roster that is just about set at this point.

Reports are coming in that the Lightning have claimed forward Matias Ritola off waivers from the Detroit Red Wings organization.
Ritola was originally drafted in the fourth round (103rd overall) by the Red Wings in 2005. He was invited to training camp with Detroit after spending the last three seasons with Grand Rapids of the AHL but did not make the team and is out of minor league options.
